Objective: To determine the patterns that govern the periodic table

Lesson:

  1. Bellwork:
    Make a Bohr Model for EACH of the following elements.  Remember to list the Symbol, Proton # and Neutron # next to the model: Boron,  Florine,  Phosphorus
  2. Element Scavenger hunt project directions given
  3. Next students start working on their rough draft for their scavenger hunt project

Homework:

  1. Finish Rough Draft (if not done in class)
  2. Discovery Education Quiz #3- Atomic Structure (closes Wednesday)
  3. Study for Odd Elements Quiz on Friday

    1.What do you call the rows on the periodic table?  What do elements in the same row have in common? 2.What do you call the columns on the periodic table?  What do the elements in the same column have in common?
  2. Finish Periodic Table Lecture 2015 with Periodic Table Guided Notes
  3. Students fill out Element Scavenger Hunt worksheet #2 and Element Scavenger Hunt Worksheet #1.  OR Students do the periodic table nearpad activity on the ipads

To connect what we have learned in class so far to the chemistry of baking

Lesson:

  1. Bellwork:
    Define Physical and Chemical change and give an example for EACH

    Definir cambios físicos y químicos y dar un ejemplo para cada

  2. Chemistry of baking lab:
    Students will complete lab with the aid of Ms. Stevenson’s ovens.  Students will be put into groups of 3.  Recipe makes 6 cookies.  Students will be assigned one of three jobs: butter, dry ingredients, wet ingredients

-D.E. 2 -Phases of Matter/Mixtures

-Finish post lab questions (if not done in class)
